When an international film studio invested in a world-class CGI system, they knew they needed a world-class fire suppression solution to protect it. Safeguarding the data and processes stored in the studio’s data centre was of paramount importance.

The project needed to be delivered in accordance with the studio’s strict COVID-19 policy, which meant the installation team were tested regularly throughout the process. With space at a premium, high stakes, and a tight deadline, the project was set to be challenging – but Sovereign Extinguishing were up to the task.

The team designed and installed a system for the server room that met all the business’ requirements. The certified system was supplied by Kidde Fire Protection, a part of Carrier Global, who manufacture industry leading fire safety products and solutions.

The Fire Suppression System was installed using 3M Novec 1230 fluid. This first-class extinguishing agent can be stored as a liquid, meaning the team were able to use fewer cylinders, a smaller pipe diameter and store the agent within the protected area, reducing the need for a separate storage site. This synthetic clean agent has one of the highest environmental profiles available, meaning it could fulfil the studio’s sustainability criteria whilst offering enhanced protection.

Sovereign Extinguishing’s in-house commissioning team guaranteed compliance and performance by carrying out a Room Integrity Test. This ensured the room could hold the fire suppression agent and that the system could perform when it mattered most, protecting the studio’s critical data.
